The "Pettine" is a teardrop-shaped Mandolin plectrum dating back over a century. Giuseppe Pettine (1874-1966) an Italian-American concert mandolinist, teacher and composer operated the Rhode Island Music Co.of Providence which carried the "Pettine" imprint on them made by D'Andrea in the 1960s.
In 2004 with the help of Carlo Anzo, Red Bear Trading came up with a version that was sold in Red Bear's early years. Due to renewed interest in this Mandolin Plectrum, it is once again being offered in an assortment of gauges and colors. Red Bear's "Pettine" is approximately 1.2" Tall by .55" Wide / 30.8 mm Tall x 14 mm Wide and comes with a Standard Bevel. Red Bear does not make this style with Grips.
