Unbelievably Good
By: Nicholas on 10/07/2024 11:25:12 AM
Got my first one a few months ago and I have several now… just insane how much of difference these made in my playing. The bevel and material glide off the string like nothing else, there was an INSTANT improvement in my attempts at fast alternate picking. The tone and dynamic range this plectrum offers is simply unmatched.

Guthrie Pick
By: Steven on 03/11/2024 06:02:19 PM
Pros: | Great tone, Durability |
Cons: | how upset you'll be if you lose it |
Probably one of the best picks out there. I've been using the same pick for oh I don't know 8 or 9 months now. I play everyday so its been put through its paces. As long as you got the "nail file" to rub the edges smooth after a few weeks of heavy use you're good to go! The serrated edges are fun to use too

OMG. Is this pick teaching me??
By: Nando Holgado on 11/08/2023 04:29:21 AM
Pros: | Sounds awesome, feels great, last a lot, and forces you to play more and better |
Cons: | Maybe the price, but as you get to use it, you wont like the other picks. |
I bought it for working in records and special ocassions... like a year ago. It arrived, I tested and i felt like the things I was doing fine sounded SO GREAT, but the more intense alternate pick stuff, sounded inacurate or maybe didn't even sounded. So i stored it in a drawer and left there all this time. A month ago, I stopped thinking about the price of the pick, gathered courage, and grab it for practicing scales, arpeggios, chromatisms and the usual things i use to practice. What i found is that the shape it has forced me to play with a *much much much* accurate technique. Not only that, the pick brings out all the tonal goodness that your guitar has and you think you need to power on a pedal to get. So i'm again in the waiting list. Don't care about the cost, i will get two more this time.

Treat yourself
By: SparklePixie on 06/03/2023 03:56:59 PM
Pros: | Tone Grip Bevel |
Cons: | none |
If you're on the fence about buying one of these picks, do yourself a favour and buy 2. This will quickly become your new favourite pick, and if you lose one, at least you bought a spare. I'm genuinely blown away by how different these play from any other pick I've ever tried in terms of tone and feel. Try one, you wont regret it.

Don't hesitate - it's awesome
By: Hidde on 05/17/2023 04:02:43 AM
Pros: | Material, Speed, Accuracy, Looks |
Cons: | Affraid to lose it |
I ordered this Guthrie Govan Signature pick last month, together with a Lil Jazzer XH for comparison and I must say: I am really impressed with this one. After years of searching for 'THE pick' I think I finally found it. For reference, normally I tend to like the Jazz III-style picks: a little smaller and pointier. Tried the red ones, the max-grip ones, the tortex ones, the true tone ones, and while all of them poses some great characteristics all of them also either lack grip or tone or stiffness (or a combination of those). That's why I found myself switching back and forth between different picks. During a YouTube rabbit hole evening following the great Guthrie Govan I stumbled upon Red Bear, and decided to give it a go. Red Bears pack all great characteristics in one product: A) The material is different (don't fool around with it too much, it might break). It feels sturdy and smooth, and looks great. Not that looks are very important, but still... The smooth surface and speed bevel make it glide over the strings very easily. B) The tone is very rich and versatile, more dynamic and bright. C) The grips (little holes) work like a charm. Virtually no sliding and turning when playing with this pick. D) This size feels very comfy to play. It is slightly bigger than a Jazz III-style, which makes it sit a little more comfortable in the hand and I think I prefer this size over the Lil Jazzer (Jazz III size). The serrated edge might be handy for specific trickery, but it also makes your pick sit a little more secure/grippy against your index finger. All in all I would highly recommend this pick. It is not cheap, true, but if you compare this to all of the other packages of virtually unused picks it's a bargain! Also, these should last for a while. Last plus: Super friendly customer service! Red Bear takes great pride in their work and it shows. I will definitely order more products in the future.

Best pick
By: huuexx on 04/21/2023 06:11:27 PM
Pros: | Shape, weight, grip/feel, tone, aesthetic |
Cons: | none |
Such an elegant pick. This is without a doubt the best pick I have ever used. It has the perfect grip in the hand, smooth bevel that compliments my playstyle. Great warm tone with a smooth attack, very nice. I really like the holes; it's a nice aesthetic and surprisingly functional. The colors are always nice and eye catching. I can't really think of any negatives other than it's kind of pricey, which is to be expected.

Guthrie Govan Signature
By: Al on 05/19/2022 09:53:57 AM
Pros: | Look, tone, playability. |
Cons: | None. |
Like many people, I was hesitant to spend $35 on a single pick when before I had not spent more than $10 on an entire pack. But after receiving/playing with the Guthrie Govan signature, I have no regrets. Aesthetically, the pick itself is beautiful — the “Clown Barf” coloration, precise speed bevel and grip holes, and Guthrie’s signature really make this pick a work of art. Clearly, Red Bear takes a lot of pride in their products. The tone/playability of this pick is equally enjoyable. The speed bevel makes fast picking a breeze, and the material produces an expressive, warm tone that somehow is both louder and quieter than most picks — i.e., notes are projected clearly, but without any additional chirp. Also, the serrated top is great for producing those really high notes Guthrie mentions in the description, and although I can’t use them as effectively as he does yet, it’s nice to have that option available.

Red Bear Picks
By: Greg on 09/01/2021 11:00:57 PM
Pros: | Best picks you can get |
Cons: | None |
I've been buying Red Bear Picks since about 2013, back when you could get custom engraving on them and have probably bought about 30 of them. Mostly for myself because I can't settle on one style or gauge and want a variety and extras of my favorites , but also to give as gifts. It's great to give them to your friends who don't believe a pick could make that much difference or be worth the price, because they always agree that it does and is once they try it. I finally got a Guthrie Govan Signature and it's awesome. I'm left handed , so thanks to Red Bear for making it and all of your picks available with lefty bevels. They feel and sound great on the strings. The heavy and extra heavy gauges are especially quiet for me. They are extremely wear resistant and will last a long time. Just don't put them in your pocket, forget about it and lay down on them. I've carelessly broken more than one that way.

Guthrie Govan Pick
By: JSanta on 08/22/2017 12:27:04 PM
I have used a lot of picks since I started playing, having recently settled on a Jazz III variant. I decided to take the plunge on one of these and I am incredibly happy I did. These are wonderfully made, don't move around at all in your fingers regardless of how fast you play without needing a death grip on the pick. The tone is warmer, and rounder than the Jazz IIIs, which is exactly what I was looking for. I won't hesitate to buy several more, they are well worth it. Customer service was great too.
