Red Bear Thumb Picks fit great, are comfortable and deliver the same great tone as do our Flat Picks. Thumb Pick Bands:
Our bands run a bit larger than other thumb picks, are adjustable, malleable to your thumb and come in two sizes: Medium and Large The bands are available in brass and nickel-silver. To adjust the fit of the Thumb Pick band DO NOT use the blade for leverage. Grasp the band itself and form it to your thumb. What Size Am I?
A good rule of "thumb" is that whatever size you are using now would be the same size as our Medium and Large bands. If you aren't sure what size band you need then take a measuring tape and measure the circumference of your thumb between the cuticle and your knuckle. Anything under 2 1/2 inches would be a Medium size band and measurement over 2 1/2 inches would require a Large size band. About the Bevels:
The blades of the Thumb Picks are beveled in a rather generic manner with a standard bevel. As you begin to use the Thumb Pick, you may experience some wear patterns on the blade which do not follow the contour of the bevel it came with. If this happens, a Pick Maintenance Kit comes with the purchase of your Thumb Pick in order to fine-tune the bevel and keep it in a nicely polished state. Once your Thumb Pick wears into your own picking pattern, you'll be all set. In most cases, the bevels are fine from the start. "Originals" vs "Bear Claws:
The blades on the Red Bear "Original" Thumb Picks are made from the same material as our "Original" Flat Picks similar to real Turtle Shell and come in our Heavy gauge. The blades are always offered in our Turtle Shell color and occasionally other colors as well. The blades on the Red Bear "Bear Claw" Thumb Picks are made from the same material as our "Tuff Tone" material which is a buff color. The gauge of the "Bear Claw" blades come in our Medium and Extra Heavy gauges with the Medium gauges offering a brighter sounding Thumb Pick.
